Our 2026 camps
For teens, ages 12–18. By popular demand, we offered two camps in July. We’ll share the details for 2027 when registration opens.
Original Practice Shakespeare in the Park
What is Original Practice? Plays in Shakespeare’s time looked very different from how we do them today. There are groups that still perform in this method.
No experience necessary! Shakespeare’s actors were pros, more like virtuosos or professional athletes, but your teen can have the experience without the ten thousand hours of practice. The concept will be adapted to fit the format of camp, but will stick to the spirit of Original Practice.
We’ll play games, learn stage directions, practice acting skills, and become familiar with a Shakespeare comedy so we can perform an abridged version at the end of camp!
Different from the year-round class, this camp stands on its own, and your teen will enjoy it whether or not they’ve been part of the year-long class.
The play for Summer 2026 was Puck’s Midsummer Night’s Mischief, an original, hilarious, and never-before-performed version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream that includes original text plus Robin Goodfellow, aka Puck, as the narrator.
Improv and Sketch Comedy Camp
If your teen is obsessed with sketch comedy, this is the camp for them! We’ll hone our comedy skills with improv, and try out techniques from the great comedians. We’ll write our own sketches and acts to perform, and play lots of improv games to warm up our skills.
This is a high-energy class full of games, group exercises, and creativity. The best part is the confidence the teens will get from learning to think quickly and trust their instincts, collaborating and supporting each other, and making each other laugh over and over!
The camp culminates in a performance showcasing what we’ve created for family and friends.
Dates and times (2026)
July 6–10, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.: Original Practice Shakespeare in the Park. A 9 a.m. drop-off and 5 p.m. pick-up option was available for an additional cost, to accommodate working hours.
July 13–17, 1–5 p.m.: Improv and Sketch Comedy Camp.
Each Friday of camp wrapped at 4, then we ate dinner and regrouped before heading to our venue for the 7 p.m. performance!
Location
Monday through Thursday took place in the Albemarle and Greene County area, and the exact address was sent once registration was complete.
On Friday, we practiced and performed on the Greene Commons stage in Stanardsville. The performance was free and open to all family and friends who wanted to cheer on the participants and experience their creativity.
